  • No. This is private property which only you and your guests will have access to on the day of your event.

  • Yes, a walk through can be arranged ahead of booking if you are in the area.

  • There is ample parking available on-site for your guests. If you’re expecting a larger number of guests, we can assist in co-ordinating parking logistics.

  • Thurlby Domain is a rural residential area so there are limitations. The Ruins site can host an unlimited number of small (20 pax) events. Both venues can accommodate larger events (up to 500 pax) but bookings are limited, get in touch for availability.

  • Thurlby Domain is a dry hire/land-only venue. It does not include power, potable water, toilet, furniture, décor or staffing. You will need to arrange your own facilities. There is a list of trusted vendors on this website.

  • Depending on the event size there are restrictions. Please contact us for information.

  • You are free to personalise the space, however, no alterations or changes to the buildings, grounds or vegetation are permitted. Some décor items may require prior approval, ie candles, hanging décor. We also ask that you ensure all decorations meet safety and venue guidelines.

  • As a dry hire venue, you are welcome to BYO. You will need to arrange for a licensed bartender or service staff to manage the alcohol service in compliance with local regulations Sale of Liquor Act if you are booking a reception.

  • The venue is typically available from 10am.

  • Yes, the venue is perfect for ceremonies.

  • Yes. There are limitations on how many receptions we can hold and there is a curfew of 9.30pm at the Ruins and 8 pm at the Stables site, so please get in touch for further information.

  • The ground is uneven and there are rabbit scrapings to watch out for. The Stables has cobblestones which don’t usually pair well with heels, but yes – if you’re comfortable, then you can wear high heels.

  • Yes. There are very few stairs to navigate, and you can drive your vehicle onto the site.  However, the ground is uneven, there are rabbit scrapings and the stables has cobblestones, so make sure to provide assistance to those in your party who may need it.

  • As a dry hire venue, you are responsible for organising weather contingencies. If you’re planning an outdoor ceremony or reception, we recommend having a marquee or tent as a backup plan in case of rain.

  • Yes, you can arrange a small rehearsal at the venue prior to your wedding day. Please check with the venue prior to making any firm time.

  • No, but we can advise local accommodation options if necessary.

  • Deposits are non-refundable, except in the case where we can rebook the same date with a comparable reservation. As weddings are usually booked 12 to 18 months in advance, if a date is cancelled, we may have already declined other potential bookings for that same date.

  • Limited landing and take-offs can be arranged. There is an additional fee, and approval is required before doing so.

  • Yes, they do need to be on a leash. There is a period in spring when there can be ducklings on the pond, so please get in touch about your dog.

  • There is a private residence up the driveway so please remain down near the Ruins or Stables.

  • Just about anything. Here is a list of some of the events we’ve hosted:

  • Please note that Thurlby Domain is an older colonial era property, so be mindful of potential hazards such as historic buildings, unexpected rabbit scrapings, falling pinecones and water features, and the playful springer spaniel living on the property, she may come to say hello.
